Film Club Awarded Grant!

Grant Award!
As you may well know the Club is a not-for-profit community group and a few weeks ago we decided to seek some support for the Club's activities.  We applied for a Grass Roots grant from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation (HIWCF).

I'm delighted to be able to inform you that we've been successful! HIWCF have assessed our application and allocated some funding to us.  This really is fantastic news and will provide us with some of the funding this financial year and some next year.  The grant we applied for covered two areas; current day-to-day running costs and, more importantly, funds to support our planned increased awareness campaign with the local media and other sources.

The awarded grant therefore not only supports the Club with current activities, it enables us to grow and develop the Club too.

Extending Benefits of Membership

  1. A new, extra saving worth up to £19.50 per year!  Starting from November the Club will be issuing vouchers for all members so they can “Bring A Friend For Free” to Film Club films - that's right, bring a non-member with you as your guest and your voucher will gain them free entry.  We'll issue three vouchers throughout the Club's season, each voucher will time-expire when new vouchers are issued.  Collect your first voucher from us at November's film.
  2. We are about to introduce a new Refer A Friend incentive scheme whereby members who refer new people to join the Club will receive extra benefits.  Watch this space for further details.
  3. Don't forget that members gain entry to Film Club presentations for £1.50 less than those who pay on the night – a saving of £15 over the season.

Please remember that the Club could not survive without its members.  By joining or renewing your membership you not only receive significant financial benefits and are able to take part in the running of the Club, but you are also helping it to continue to bring some of the best and most interesting films to Andover.

Next Films – Members Voted For:

  • November - “All Quiet On The Western Front” won the vote and will be shown on Monday 2nd November, start time tbc (usually 20:15).  This epic dating from 1930 is a must see and how apt in the month of November?
  • December - “Milk” (2008) - this acclaimed and uplifting film, directed by Gus van Sant,  won two Oscars; for Sean Penn as actor in a lead role and the other for its superb original script.
  • January - La Dolce Vita (1960) – directed by Federico Fellini, this oh-so-hot story of hedonism, controversial in its day, is one of the definitive European classics.
