The Working Group held the first meeting tonight. The group, all local to Andover, discussed the goals of the club and the underlying activities required to support the goals.
The primary role of Andover Film Club was agreed as being: To bring films to Andover that would not normally be seen here on the big screen. Such films being low-budget British films on limited distribution, art-house films, foreign language films and classic films from the past that deserve to be seen on the big screen.
The club will be run as not for profit. There will be no commercial relationship with REEL Cinema and no person involved with the club will draw any income from club funds. The club will be membership based, with fees paid for membership and club presentations will be open to the public as well as club members.
Roles were agreed and the working group became a committee.
Also discussed was membership of the British Federation of Film Societies (BFFS). This will be investigated further as it appears to be an excellent source of advice, support and the central hub of similar film societies.
