![]() | GomorrahMonday 1st March, 20:15 Reel Cinema, Andover Release: 2008 (Cert 15) Directors: Matteo Garrone Review: Here Andover Film Club enjoyed its biggest audience of the current movie season for its February presentation, and another good attendance is expected for the showing of “Gomorrah” (cert 15) on Monday March 1st. Directed by the Italian Matteo Garone, “Gomorrah” shows through the stories of five individuals how organised crime remains deeply embedded in the life of present day Naples. It was a prizewinner at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. Although the characters are fictional, the film is based on the best-selling book of the same name which exposed the real-life activities of the Camorra, the Neapolitan mafia. Its author, Roberto Saviano, has become a national hero in the fight against crime and is under permanent police escort. The presentation will start at 8.15pm and as always the film is open to the public as well as club members. |
